This book of poetry is written by the Iraqi poet Hussein Ali Yunis and translated from the Arabic by Sadek R. Mohammed –
Hussein Ali Yunis (poet, novelist, and essayist; IRAQ). He is born in 1967. He has published the following books of poetry: Procedures, Tales and Bitter Incidents, Pub in a Dream, Letter in a Barrel, I Flew Over Time, Fleeting Hope, The Well of the World, Did We Live Our Lives? The Afternoon of Life and Treasuries of the Night. His published novels include A Tramp Diary and Jean Damu in the Front. His works have been translated into German, French, Spanish, and Hebrew.
Sadek Mohammed (poet, translator, essayist, and academic; IRAQ). He is the author of the collection of poetry Archeology of Scorched Cities (2013), the co-editor of Flowers of Flame: Unheard Voices of Iraq (2008) which was awarded the IPPY/Independent Publisher Book Award in 2009, and Ishtar’s Songs: Iraqi Poetry since the 1970s (2011). His works have been published in Gilgamesh, Atlanta Review, World Literature Today, Granta, the Normal School, Best American Nonrequired Reading (BANR) among various other publications. Mohammed currently is the Executive Director of Baghdad City of Literature-UNESCO and a professor of modern poetry and literary criticism at the University of Mustansiriya in Baghdad.
